About the role:

You will be based at our main office in Haverhill although much of your time will be spent out in the community.  You will work as part of the Community Advice Team, running a local REACH drop-in service alongside volunteers, offering benefit checks, advice, and application assistance.  The drop-in locations are in various venues around Haverhill.

The role is 15 hours per week; 3 hours daily, either 9.30-12.30 or 1.30-4.30 depending on when and where the drop-in occurs. As locations and times of drop-ins may change with availability, some flexibility may be required in your working week pattern.

Our workplace culture is one that is positive, supportive and fun. We value each other's skills and offer opportunities for you to grow, as well as providing the fulfilment of bringing your empathy and caring to the place where it makes a difference.

About you:

We are looking for somebody that has compassion at their heart and feels passionate about improving peoples’ lives.  Ideally, you will need excellent communication skills, a keen attention to details and have a flexible approach to their work.  More important you should care about people and have a desire to empower our clients to lift themselves out of poverty.  We are a Christian based charity and at the very least we would like somebody who can work within the Christian ethos of the charity.

Ultimately although your knowledge and skills are important, your passion for helping to improve peoples’ lives is more important.

We love diversity and we value your unique skills, strengths, knowledge, and experience. Becoming one of our team may realise your potential, helping us to raise our performance in empowering those we serve

About us:

At REACH our mission is to journey with people, however long it takes, providing practical help, advice and support to revive hope and enable people to live life to the full. We are a relatively small community/family/team, driven by this mission and, together, the work we do makes a difference.

We began working to assist families and individuals struggling with debt in 2005.  During that work, we occasionally came across families who were struggling to feed themselves – often due to changes in bank charges, benefit delays and so on.  In 2007, we made contact with the Trussell Trust network of Foodbanks, eventually launching in Haverhill in October 2008.

We are well-known and respected locally and have strong relationships and support from local authorities (especially West Suffolk Council and Haverhill Town Council), local business (including large retailers like Tesco and Sainburys), churches, schools and other community groups.  We have been expanding our relationships with Grant Making Bodies since 2013 and have a productive partnership with Suffolk Community Foundation via whom we receive significant funding.
