Rob Humphries – Interim Foodbank Manager
I joined Reach as a Resource Centre volunteer in September 2021 and became the Foodbank Manager in January 2022.
When I was 10 years old my mother plonked me in front of the TV to watch a documentary about training as an RAF pilot and I was instantly hooked. I could fly an aeroplane before I could drive a car and joined the RAF when I was 18. I have spent most of my adult life flying C-130 Hercules transport aircraft around the world and, following a year-long training course, I served as a test pilot responsible for accepting new and modified aircraft into service. After leaving the RAF in 2016, I worked in the aerospace industry for 5 years and am now in the process of obtaining my commercial pilot’s licence and returning to the flight deck.
I have lived in many places around the UK and moved to Ashen in Essex in 2017, where my wife and I bought an old house that we have spent the past few years renovating. We have 2 energetic dogs and enjoy roaming the beautiful countryside around us, with them in tow. I am a keen cyclist – even in the depths of winter – and am a trustee and the Secretary of our Village Hall.
