Sandra Mann – Foodbank Manager
I have enjoyed many careers over the years, including several positions of management in a professional kitchen. I trained as a professional chef in my teens and have worked at some of the most prestigious kitchens, including Gidleigh Park in Devon and Gleneagles Hotel in Scotland. These were very fast pace and I relished the exciting times I had in these establishments.
I then took time out to start a family and my career was put on hold for a while. During this time, I took time out to complete a Bachelor’s degree in Fine art, which I gained a 2:1. Being creative is something that I feel very passionate about. From printing to painting and some occasional floristry, I enjoy it all and when I have some spare time, I like to continue practising mark-making and learning all the time.
In 2018, I heard about Reach and I applied to do some volunteering work. This was in the Resource Centre and it involved working with clients and dealing with an array of subjects. In 2019, I became the Foodbank Manager at Reach. I thoroughly enjoy the challenge of working with volunteers and making sure people in need, really get the help that they deserve.
The most rewarding part about working for Reach for me is the volunteers and the camaraderie which we have. From young to old, it is very rewarding to see volunteers gain confidence and grow within themselves.
