Debt Advisor

Looking for a role that could change lives of those in debt crisis?

Reach has provided support to local people in crisis for over 10 years. We provide debt counselling, Foodbank service, support to clients with form filling, benefits advice and much more.

The Reach Resource Centre on Leiston Road in Haverhill, is open to see clients from 2:00pm to 5:00pm Monday to Friday.

Over the last six months, we have supported more than 450 different people in various ways, including assistance filling in forms, benefit enquiries and help with a food parcel from our Foodbank.

We are seeking to continue this vital work by recruiting a debt advisor to work with our clients.

As a Debt Advisor you'll be helping clients to manage their existing debt solution with annual reviews and change in circumstance reviews, giving general debt advice and providing support and advice when payments can't be made.

Examples of tasks include:

  • Interview clients
  • Help them negotiate with people such as creditors or service providers
  • Draft letters
  • Make phone calls on their behalf
  • Refer them to other agencies

  • No prior experience is required, as all advisers must undergo a two-day training course with Community Money Advice, which we will arrange.
  • In house training of our online database/case-noting system
  • New advisers will be paired with an experience adviser until ready to see clients on their own
  • Must be computer literate
